We endorse the DAN! protocol (Defeat Autism Now!) established by the Autism Research Institute in San Diego. This is a system for identifying and treating the metabolic/biochemical causes of autism and related disorders, and is based on a series of laboratory investigations. It can be rather expensive, though, and we are always concerned to modify the approach to fit both the individuality of your child and the financial constraints you experience. Treatment is very likely to involve diet and nutritional supplements, and may also include removal of toxins (chelation), and immunotherapy or desensitisation.
A word about Secretin. We do not administer this ourselves, although we are very interested in what it reveals about autism in general and about individual sufferers from autism. We are happy to use the information provided by Secretin treatment and to develop other ways of tackling the problems it reveals. We also suggest that homeopathic Secretin is worth a try before committing to more elaborate and expensive regimes.
We will never ask you to give up the teaching and rehabilitation you do for your child. It is essential to his/her development. Come to us to sort out the physical side, and then he/she will be better able to learn and progress.
